James, there are indeed many in the tech sector that abhor regulation…and for good reason. History is littered with examples of regulations gone awry, from the FDA’s “invisible graveyard” to NEPA blocking the adoption of solar.
Further, because regulation will always tend to favor incumbent big businesses over small startups, it tends to protect the status quo and stifle innovation.
This is a difficult needle to thread, one that is almost impossible for politicians who probably don’t understand AI to begin with (I sure don’t.)
