My fellow pro-growth Up Wingers,

If I were ever to run for US president — perhaps the nominee of a future Progress and Prosperity Party with its vivid symbol, the noble unicorn — one of my main issues would be planetary defense. I mean, humanity can’t have a promised, sci-fi future finally become reality if we don’t have any future at all.

Unfortunately for us, the cosmos has a standing appointment with Earth — one that will eventually prove globally catastrophic. And while the timing of that terrible meeting remains uncertain, astronomers are quite clear about the inevitability: Our Pale Blue Dot will one day rendezvous, once again, with a substantial asteroid or comet.

A civilization murderer. A planet killer.
