I think AI developers are seriously underestimating the boiling rage that is building around this technology. From what I have witnessed in conversations, it's more fury than anxiety. I'm surprised it's even 17% of our population that thinks this is a good idea. People tend to enjoy working, they enjoy driving, they enjoy interacting with people, not robots. I am curious to see where this goes, as our society becomes inundated with a technology it does not want and did not ask for. We have an industry that seems to revel in the idea of people losing their jobs, with absolutely no realistic plan to replace income. Congress couldn't even agree on the pandemic era Child Tax Credit that eliminated child poverty! To think that workers will somehow benefit from the productivity gains seems foolish.
